Mitigate smartphone usage

Some ways that I have researched to minimize my smartphone usage is to turn off as many notifications as I can, have an email lock down time frame, and meditate.

I feel the need to check my phone every time the screen lights up or it rings. I will have to go through my settings and turn off push notifications for at least 90 percent of my apps. I choose this strategy because it relates to a huge reason why I use my phone constantly.

Having an email lock down time frame is pretty smart if you ask me. I never thought about not replying or looking at emails after a certain time. I will have my cut off time be 8:30pm. This is another big reason why I am on my phone, whether its deleting emails or replying to them.

The last and most important strategy is to meditate. This is how I put myself to sleep every night, but I never thought to do it throughout the day. I will start to dedicate at least 30 minutes to silence, no cellular devices, and an empty room. I think this will improve my smartphone usage as well as improve my brain activity.
