I already meditate on a regular basis, but this exercise had me to meditate with my phone in my hand. While meditating and focusing on just my breathing and the sound of the ceiling fan, I noticed that every time my phone vibrated in my hand:

  • my breathing increased (breaths taken in and out rapidly increased)
  • My eyes opened
  • I got startled
  • I had an urge to check the phone (urge like really bad)

It was so hard for me to come back to the regular breathing and focusing on the fan. My phone kept going off like crazy. Once I finished meditating, I found out that it was the family group chat.
